Predicting the Brewers Opening Day roster

Manager Craig Counsell said Thursday that the team was internally considering three candidates for those two spots, though he did not specify the trio. If Jacob Barnes is in -- he was solid last season after a promotion, but struggled throughout Spring Training -- then the final competitors are Tyler Cravy, Taylor Jungmann and Rob Scahill.

Cravy and Jungmann are on the 40-man roster. Scahill is not, though there is an opening at the moment.

The possibility still remained, of course, of a last-minute addition from outside. Last year, GM David Stearns signed reliever Carlos Torres about 48 hours before the first pitch of the regular season, and he went on to lead the team in appearances and relief innings.
