MILWAUKEE -- The first 162 regular-season games were so much fun, the Brewers and Cubs appeared destined to play one more to decide the National League Central.
They were on the way to being knotted atop the standings Sunday after both teams took care of business in their respective regularly scheduled finales -- the Brewers scoring a wire-to-wire 11-0 win over the Tigers at Miller Park that ended as the Cubs held a five-run lead over the Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
Barring a Cards comeback, the Brewers and Cubs would find themselves with identical 95-67 records, setting up a one-game tiebreaker at noon CT on Monday afternoon at Wrigley Field.
