Having lost three straight tough games in San Diego, the Brewers came in looking to salvage a game in a series that hadn’t gone their way. To do so, they turned to perhaps the team’s most valuable player in June, one who most fans had never even heard of in spring training: Tobias Myers, who came in having given up just one run in his last three starts combined.
Padres starter Michael King came out with lively fastball and started by striking out the side in order. Myers gave up a leadoff hit to Luis Arraez, but he induced a Jurickson Profar double play and got through the first inning in three batters.
