Both Drew Smyly and Shae Simmons were non-tendered. One starter and one reliever open for any team. Both could be useful in their own way for the Milwaukee Brewers should a chance be taken on them.
Drew Smyly
To bury the obvious lead, Smyly is a lefty. That is something the Brewers could really use in their rotation. Now for the real lead, and the downfall to this idea. He is currently in recovery from Tommy John surgery.
Now, that is not good. He will not be ready by August. With Jimmy Nelson also set to miss part of the season, Smyly is not the best option for an offseason signing.
