The Milwaukee Brewers reportedly signed six international players on the opening day of International Free Agency. On day one, Milwaukee reportedly spent $3,000,000 of its $6,025,400 bonus pool.
The most prominent prospect was Eduarqui Fernandez, a five-tool outfielder from the Dominican Republic who signed for $1.1 million. Fernandez ranked at #18 on MLB Pipeline’s Top 30 International Free Agent rankings and #28 on Baseball America’s top 50. His best tools relate back to his defense, which should be plenty good enough to keep him in center field. Right now, he projects to have at least average power but at 6’2” 175 lbs, there’s plenty of projection left and a chance to have an above average tool.
