With the 121st pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, the Milwaukee Brewers drafted outfielder Joe Wiemer from Cincinnati.
Wiemer is going to be a project, but the tools scream that he’s worth it. At Cincinnati, the Junior slashed only .264/.379/.408 despite massive raw power projections. Aside from the struggles at the plate, he shows plus speed, a plus-plus arm, and the ability to play anywhere in the outfield. He’s been clocked at 98 mph, and has even been tried on the mound at Cincinnati.
MLB Pipeline dropped Wiemer all the way down to 167, while Baseball America had him at 136 and FanGraphs has him at 97.
