The Milwaukee Brewers announced before yesterday’s game that both Jake Petricka and Alex Wilson had successfully cleared waivers and were outrighted to Triple-A San Antonio. The pair of pitchers were DFA’d earlier in the week; Wilson to make room for Jay Jackson, and Petricka to clear space for Gio Gonzalez.
Both veteran right-handers could have elected free agency, but chose to stay with the organization for the time being. Milwaukee’s tenuous bullpen depth could mean that we see either or both pitchers again down the road this season. Wilson, 32, joined the team shortly before the end of Spring Training after he was cut loose by the Indians.
