Elian Herrera was carted off the field in the top of the eight inning in the Milwaukee Brewers’ game tonight against the Cincinnati Reds. Skip Schumaker blooped a double into shallow left field, and Herrera, Jean Segura, and Shane Peterson all gave chase. Segura managed to avoid any contact, but Peterson and Herrera collided hard on the play.
Peterson was holding his knee, but eventually rose to his feet and was able to walk off the field. He was replaced by Jason Rogers in left field. Herrera, however, laid down on his stomach for several minutes before the Brewers’ medical staff rolled him on to a stretcher.
