The Brewers got one of the best starts of the season from Jimmy Nelson tonight. The Brewers' starter picked up 5 Ks on his way to 8 strong innings, while only giving up 2 runs.
Unfortunately, Padres' starter James Shields was locked in, and topped Nelson's performance with 7 shutout innings.
The damage came largely as the result of one man: OF Melvin Upton Jr., who went 3-4 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored. Upton's single in the 4th and HR in the 9th accounted for two of the Padres' runs.
