Phoenix— Zach Davies was well aware of the constant presence of the rebuilding Milwaukee Brewers on major-league baseball's transactions list over the off-season.
"I could see it happening, one after the other," said the 23-year-old right-hander. "It's a huge process. They're believing in it, so it's cool to see. I was following everything."
Davies already had gotten a foot in the door late last season when the Brewers called him up from Class AAA Colorado Springs and gave him six starts. He had been acquired from Baltimore at the end of spring training in a trade for outfielder Gerardo Parra and had no idea he'd get that opportunity.
