St. Louis — Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell realizes the trap rookie centerfielder Keon Broxton has been caught in during the opening days of the season.
Looking for his first major-league hit, Broxton has not wanted to be too anxious at the plate. In doing so, he slipped over to the other end of the spectrum, taking too many pitches.
The result has been an 0-for-11 start, with seven strikeouts, including three in the Brewers' 10-1 loss to St. Louis on Monday. Broxton was 0 for 2 in a brief September trial with Pittsburgh last season.
