After starting the season 2 for 33 with the Detroit Tigers, infielder Hernan Perez has hit his stride at the plate as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Perez has hit safely in five straight games and seven of eight overall to raise his average with his newest team to .306.
Because of his newfound offensive success, Perez has been seeing regular time at second base, although Scooter Gennett was in the lineup in the Brewers' 4-1 victory over the New York Mets on Wednesday.
"He's doing a good job," manager Craig Counsell said of Perez, who was claimed off waivers on June 2.
