Perez made his first start at shortstop Wednesday night for the Brewers against the Philadelphia Phillies. Claimed earlier in the season on waivers from Detroit, Perez had started nine games at second base and four at third base, earning more playing time by swinging a hot bat.
"He's swinging the bat so well, you want to keep him in the lineup," said manager Craig Counsell. "He's earning playing time, the way he's playing."
