Brewers starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez departed Game 4 of the National League Championship Series on Tuesday against the Dodgers after injuring his left ankle on a comebacker.
The left-hander leaped for a ball hit by Yasiel Puig to lead off the inning and landed awkwardly on his left ankle on the pitcher's mound as Puig reached on a single. Gonzalez allowed a run in the first inning on Brian Dozier's RBI single.
HOUSTON -- The most legendary flame-thrower from Alvin, Texas -- or perhaps anywhere -- was sitting in the front row of the stands behind home plate, a direct line from the pitcher's mound.
