Gio Gonzalez to start for Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, replacing Junior Guerra in rotation

Craig Counsell announced today that new Brewer Gio Gonzalez will replace struggling righty Junior Guerra for Sunday’s contest with the visiting San Francisco Giants at Miller Park:

Juni G’s last three starts have totaled 9.2 innings with 23 hits and 5 walks, and 17 runs allowed (12 earned), so the move isn’t a surprise.

It isn’t like Gonzalez comes into the start on a hot streak; HIS last three starts went 16.2 innings that resulted in 15 runs (all earned) on 23 hits and zero strikeouts. None. Which doesn’t inspire a ton of confidence that the Brewers will have a big uptick in effectiveness on the mound.
