Coming into Opening Day, the Brewers offense knew they’d have a lot of work to do facing 2014 World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner. As most fans wouldn’t have been surprised by a dominance performance by him, the Brewers made it a game, but not for long.
Early on both Scooter Gennett and Jonathan Villar made sure they let Bumgarner know he wouldn’t have a dominant performance as each had a solo home run. Gennett’s came in the bottom of the 2nd inning and Villar followed him up in the 3rd.
