Corey Ray was asked how his first round of batting practice went as a professional player.
"I was a little nervous early on," said Ray, the first-round draft pick who signed with the Brewers earlier Saturday. "I saw Chris Carter hitting balls out of the stadium.
"I said, 'I've got to follow that? C'mon. You should have put me in group one.'"
Actually, Ray held his own when he stepped in the batting cage, pounding some pitches out of Miller Park. Before taking his cuts, Ray spent time in the home clubhouse, meeting Brewers players and staff.
