Phoenix — As if misplaying pop-ups, booting grounders and turning doubles into singles with our speed weren't tough enough on our egos at Brewers Fantasy Camp, we had to endure the ignominy of Kangaroo Court on Friday.
Merriam-Webster defines Kangaroo Court as a "mock court in which the principles of law and justice are disregarded or perverted."
That pretty much describes it. Fellow campers or coaches bring complaints against "defendants" who can either plead guilty and pay a fine or plead innocent and risk paying double if they lose.
The coaches are judge, jury and executioner.
