Phoenix – The gamble paid off.
With the news Tuesday morning that infielder Colin Walsh had made the Milwaukee Brewers' opening-day roster along with Yadiel Rivera, Walsh's parents and brother no longer need to wonder whether their travel plans to Milwaukee are going to hold up.
"My mom was excited," Walsh said. "They all had Southwest tickets to come out for opening day. Now they don't have to cancel them. It makes it easier they don't have to change their flights for somewhere else.
"They're all set up."
It was the Brewers who took the initial gamble, selecting Walsh from the Oakland A's in the Rule 5 draft last December.
