Christian Yelich was awarded his second-career Silver Slugger award today. The award recognizes the best offensive performances at each individual position in each league. It seemed like a lock that the Milwaukee Brewers outfielder would bring home the award after he won the Hank Aaron Award for best offensive player in the National League.
The reasons for Yelich’s win seem endless. He won a batting title and finished just shy of a triple crown, he had the best SLG percentage and OPS in baseball, he had a wRC+ well over 200 in the second half and finished at 166, etc.
