St. Louis — With his second-inning home run on Friday night, Chris Carter officially clinched his most productive first half as a major-league slugger.
The first baseman now has 20 round-trippers prior to the all-star break for the first time in his career, making him the 12th player in Milwaukee Brewers history to accomplish that feat. Ryan Braun was the last to do it in 2012, and former first baseman Prince Fielder did it a club-record four times.
Carter also is hitting .231 with a team-best 49 runs batted in, making an impact in his first 77 games with the Brewers.
