Rome wasn't built in a day, but the Milwaukee Brewers' farm system was rebuilt in close to that time.
OK, it was actually over a couple of months, but you get the picture. Add the Brewers' trade deadline deals to their 2015 amateur draft, and a farm system that has been regularly trashed by analysts for years suddenly has a different and promising outlook.
The cupboard has been restocked to the point that the Top 10 for 2016 will have a completely different look from this year's edition.
When I asked Baseball America editor in chief John Manuel for assistance in reconfiguring the Top 10, he sent me this message:
"It's gone from a middle of the pack (farm) system to a top five or 10 system, and that's with last year's boom-or-bust guys all having decent to middling seasons.
