The long ball helped the Milwaukee Brewers salvage their three-game series with the Miami Marlins on Wednesday afternoon.
Khris Davis drove in five runs with a pair of homers and Ryan Braun passed Robin Yount to become the franchise's all-time leader with another as the Brewers outlasted the Marlins, 8-7, in a sloppy back-and-forth affair at Miller Park.
Ultimately, it was a two-run single by Martin Maldonado in the fifth that gave the Brewers their first and final lead of the game and allowed them to avoid a Marlins sweep.
Leading, 7-6, the Brewers got some valuable breathing room when Braun stepped to the plate to lead off the bottom of the sixth.
