For the second week in a row, the best performance by Brewers starting pitching belongs to Robert Gasser. In his second career start on Wednesday, he held the Pirates to one run, a sac fly by Connor Joe, in five innings. He scattered six singles and walked only one batter while striking out two in just 82 pitches, and his ERA through two starts sits at a sparkling 0.82.
In the bullpen, Bryan Hudson and Elvis Peguero led the way this week, each throwing three scoreless innings while allowing a combined one hit.
Top Hitting Performance of the Week
The story at the plate this week has been third baseman Joey Ortiz, who has, at least for now, taken full control of the third base job in Milwaukee, and who has been one of the league’s best hitters for some time now.
