The Brewers won a nail-biting series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night, winning 2-1 in 10 innings after a blown save in the ninth.
After 1 1⁄2 scoreless frames, the Cardinals threatened against Freddy Peralta in the second inning, getting Willson Contreras and Masyn Winn on via singles. With two outs, Jordan Walker struck out, but a passed ball by William Contreras nearly allowed his brother to score. Instead, the younger Contreras threw to Peralta at the plate to cut the elder Contreras down and keep the game scoreless.
