The Milwaukee Brewers knew they eventually would have to trade shortstop Jean Segura to make room for top prospect Orlando Arcia and that time came Saturday.
The Brewers sent Segura and minor-league pitcher Tyler Wagner to the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for right-hander Chase Anderson, veteran infielder Aaron Hill, shortstop prospect Isan Diaz and cash. The undisclosed money coming to Milwaukee is to offset the 2016 salary of Hill, who is due to make $12 million.
Beyond eventually making room at short for Arcia, who is expected to begin the 2016 season at Class AAA Colorado Springs, the Brewers acquired a 28-year-old starter in Anderson who has played less than two years in the majors and is not yet arbitration-eligible.
