Brewers third baseman Hernan Perez sparked Milwaukee's four-run second inning with a solo home run against the Giants' Matt Cain, who lost his fourth straight start after allowing five earned runs on 10 hits in five innings. Cain walked two, struck out three and saw his ERA rise to 6.60 in seven career starts in Milwaukee.
The Giants made things interesting by scoring twice in the ninth and getting three shots with the tying run at the plate, but Corey Knebel retired all three hitters he faced for the save.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Four score: Perez started the Brewers' big rally against Cain, and it continued with five more hits and a walk as Milwaukee sent 10 men to the plate.
