Craig Counsell told reporters after yesterday’s game for the Milwaukee Brewers that Lorenzo Cain would be going on the injured list. That move was made official this afternoon, as Cain is down with a strained right hamstring and Tyrone Taylor will come up from Triple-A.
After opting out last season and then missing time to during April, Cain has yet to get quite on track for the Brewers at the plate. He’s batting just .223/.322/.350 in 118 plate appearances on the season, including a .247/.356/.352 slash line during the month of May. He’s bopped three homers and stolen four bags for an 86 OPS+.
