Brewers infielder Yadiel Rivera impressing with glove and bat

Phoenix – When it comes to carving a niche in the Milwaukee Brewers' massive rebuilding plan, infielder Yadiel Rivera finds himself in something of a trick box.

In front of Rivera, whose best position is shortstop, newcomer Jonathan Villar has been designated the starting shortstop to begin the 2016 season. Behind him looms Orlando Arcia, the organization's undisputed top prospect and shortstop-in-waiting.

And the wait is not expected to be long.

"There's no question he has been in Arcia's shadow," said Brewers manager Craig Counsell. "And he casts a pretty big shadow."

Undaunted by that positional squeeze, the 23-year-old Rivera has put together one of the best camps of anyone wearing a Brewers uniform.
