The Milwaukee Brewers took on the Texas Rangers today, and they did so with a new face on the mound: Dallas Keuchel, the 2015 Cy Young Award winner who was acquired from the Seattle Mariners yesterday. But by the time this one was decided, Keuchel had long-since left the game, and an unlikely hero emerged: Andruw Monasterio, who didn’t enter the game until an injury required him to do so.
Keuchel’s Brewers career, however long it may be, got off to an ideal start, as he got Marcus Semien to tap a grounder right back to him (Keuchel is a five-time Gold Glove winner), and then struck out Robbie Grossman and Josh Smith.
