Brewers' first round of cuts include Orlando Arcia, Brett Phillips

Glendale, Ariz. — The Milwaukee Brewers made their first cuts of the spring Monday, with many of the 10 players sent across the parking lot in Maryvale representing the future of the franchise.

Shortstop Orlando Arcia and outfielder Brett Phillips, generally recognized as the organization's top prospects, headlined the group.

Optioned along with Arcia were pitchers Jacob Barnes, Adrian Houser, Jorge Lopez and Damien Magnifico and outfielder Michael Reed. Reassigned to minor-league camp along with Phillips were pitcher Josh Hader and catchers Jacob Nottingham and Rene Garcia.
