Brewers defeat Reds in a Smoak Show, 4-2

Trevor Bauer may have earned himself some free beer, but that was the only ‘W’ he got at Miller Park tonight against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Budweiser promised to make a “Cincinnati Buds” beer can if Bauer could reach 46 strikeouts through six starts, which he did upon earning his fifth of nine strikeouts against the Brewers. But Bauer saw his ERA more than double during his outing on Monday night — from 0.68 to 1.65 — after he allowed four earned runs across 6.1 innings pitched.

The Brewers struck first in the bottom of the opening inning, something that has been a rarity for them this year.
