Philadelphia — A tough start to the 2016 season has taken a happy turn for Jacob Barnes.
In April, the reliever took a leave of absence from Class AAA Colorado Springs for about 10 days after his stepfather, Ray, passed away from complications stemming from cancer.
Not long thereafter, Barnes celebrated the birth of his daughter, Maisy. And on Thursday he officially joined the Milwaukee Brewers, becoming the fifth member of the team's 2011 draft class to suit up for them as he took the place of injured Michael Blazek in the bullpen.
"He's had a roller coaster first two months of the season, certainly," manager Craig Counsell said.
