The New York Post is reporting that Milwaukee Brewers assistant GM Matt Arnold is one of three finalists for the Pittsburgh Pirates GM opening. One of the other candidates is former Boston Red Sox GM Ben Cherington and the final candidate isn’t listed.
Pittsburgh fired its last GM on Oct. 28, leaving a wealth of positions to fill when team president Frank Coonelly resigned and the team fired Clint Hurdle. With all of those openings, there’s also a chance that Arnold could dip back into the Brewers’ organization to fill his staff.
