Los Angeles— The Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday announced the first 13 signings from their 2016 draft class, including second-rounder Lucas Erceg, a third baseman from Menlo College in California.
Erceg was reported to have signed for $1.15 million, below slot for the 46th player taken.
The Brewers have signed five of their top 10 picks but first-rounder Corey Ray, a centerfielder from the University of Louisville, is not one of them.
Some of the money saved with Erceg was used to sign fifth-rounder Payton Henry, a high school catcher from Utah who received $550,000, far over that allotted slot.
