Brewers activate Saladino, designate Sogard

MILWAUKEE -- The Brewers reinstated Tyler Saladino from the 10-day disabled list Thursday afternoon.

Saladino, who was traded by the White Sox to the Brewers for cash considerations in April, has not appeared in the Major Leagues since May 29, when he suffered a left ankle sprain against the Cardinals. The injury was untimely, coming right after the Brewers optioned the scuffling Orlando Arcia to Triple-A Colorado Springs and awarded Saladino the starting shortstop position. In 16 games with the Brewers, Saladino hit .324 and belted three homers.

To make space for Saladino on the 25-man roster, Eric Sogard was designated for assignment.
