Freeland -- the Rockies' No. 6 prospect, per MLBPipeline.com, and a competitor for a rotation spot -- allowed five hits over four scoreless innings, striking out five and walking none.
A Denver native and the Rockies' top choice in the 2014 Draft, Freeland pitched out of having runners at second and third with no outs in the first. He struck out Domingo Santana and Jesus Aguilar, then induced a groundout by Kirk Nieuwenhuis. It was Freeland's first start of the spring, but his third straight scoreless outing -- all with a starter's pitch count.
