In today's Brewers trade rumors and news update, the Milwaukee Brewers have been named as one of three potential trade destinations for Philadelphia Phillies - provided that the Phillies decide to eat the majority of the $68.3 million they owe the hulking first baseman.
According to Randy Miller of NJ.com, "the first-place Brewers, in a four-team fight for the NL Central after blowing a big lead, might be looking to make a big move after going into the break on a 2-10 slide."
"The Brewers could see Howard as a better option at first instead of platooning Mark Reynolds and Lyle Overbay," Miller adds.
The report also names the Oakland Athletics and Kansas City Royals as potential trade suitors. However, this is all purely conjecture at this point as the Phillies are unlikely to take on such a burden of dead money in order to accelerate their youth movement by the span of a couple of years.
