Manchester City's American goalkeeper Zack Steffen underwent a medical at Championship side Middlesbrough yesterday ahead of a season-long loan.
The USMNT keeper leaves to secure first-team football ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with recent Arsenal signing Matt Turner providing competition for the No 1 jersey.
Steffen has spent the last two seasons as understudy to Brazilian goalkeeper Ederson at City, and he has only played twice in the Premier League since his arrival in 2019.
This latest chapter in Steffen's career will not be his first spell away from City since he joined the Premier League champions from MLS side Colombus Crew for £6.
