Before heading to White Hart Lane for this evening’s match with Middlesbrough, Mauricio Pochettino and his players will sit down together and watch Chelsea play Arsenal.
It will make for uncomfortable viewing if Chelsea win and move a daunting 12 points clear of them, but that would change nothing for Pochettino.
He’s already under no illusions that Spurs cannot afford to drop points as they did in their last two Premier League outings against Manchester City a fortnight ago and Sunderland last Tuesday.
And as his team enter their most critical phase of the season, Pochettino is determined that Spurs will be the ones to capitalise should Antonio Conte’s men slip-up.
