West Bromwich Albion target Ben Gibson will be offered a lucrative new contract by Middlesbrough in the hope of tempting him to stay and lead them back into the Premier League.
Gibson will discuss the terms with his uncle, Boro chairman Steve Gibson, who will try to convince him to commit to at least one more season at the Riverside.
Albion have bid three times for the 24-year-old central defender.
The latest offer, worth £18million plus £3m in add-ons, was rejected and Tony Pulis was preparing to go back with an improved offer.
