Garry Monk is set to be confirmed as the new manager of Middlesbrough.
Sportsmail revealed on May 18 that Monk and Nigel Pearson were the frontrunners for the position - which is currently occupied by Steve Agnew - and they were subsequently interviewed.
Agnew, too, was spoken to by owner Steve Gibson with a view to remaining in charge, but the chairman was impressed by Monk - who quit Leeds last month - after asking him to outline his plans for the entire club, from playing staff and backroom personnel to scouting and the academy.
