Middlesbrough have started planning for the future by making an enquiry for Bury's highly-rated teenage striker George Miller.
Miller, 18, scored eight goals in his debut season and is the type of young prospect that Boro chairman Steve Gibson wants to recruit following relegation from the Premier League.
Gibson has promised to change 'all aspects of the club' after a reliance on overseas recruitment under Aitor Karanka led to a disastrous season which finishes at Anfield on Sunday.
Boro's scouts have been told to flag up the brightest young players from the lower leagues and the club are prepared to come to an incentivised deal with League One Bury that would involve a £200,000 downpayment plus bonuses and sell-on clauses as his career progresses.
