Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson rejects £50million takeover offer
Middlesbrough owner Steve Gibson has rejected a £50million takeover offer from a Chinese group and has no intention of selling a stake in the Premier League club.
It is understood Chinese businessman Chien Lee, whose OGC Nice Investment Group Ltd owns French club Nice, met with Gibson and consultant Peter Kenyon in October.
An offer of around £50million for a 50 per cent stake in the club was then put on the table, but that was swiftly rejected by the Boro chief.
It is claimed Gibson, who steered Boro back from the brink of financial ruin in 1986, is not interested ether in a full sale or a partnership.
