Middlesbrough are set to complete the £9million signing of Denmark striker Martin Braithwaite and could follow that up with the £14m capture of Nottingham Forest’s Britt Assombalonga.
Toulouse captain Braithwaite, 26, was on Teesside on Thursday ahead of completing the formalities of his move.
But new boss Garry Monk is determined to make it a £23m double swoop with talks ongoing for 24-year-old frontman Assombalonga.
It would certainly prove a signal of intent from owner Steve Gibson were the club to land the pair.
