Middlesbrough manager Garry Monk has criticised the ‘mind-boggling’ sacking of Sunderland boss Simon Grayson.

The Black Cats have endured a nightmare start to life in the Championship after they were relegated from the Premier League last season.

Grayson – who was hired in the summer from Preston North End thanks to his experience – has now been shown the exit door after Tuesday night’s 3-3 draw with bottom club Bolton left Sunderland in the relegation zone.
