Middlesbrough have appointed Tony Pulis as their new manager as the ex-Stoke boss replaces Garry Monk at the helm.

Pulis has been without a club since leaving his post with West Brom earlier this season and takes over with Middlesbrough three points outside the Championship play-off spots.

The 59-year-old will watch the Boxing Day game against Bolton from the Riverside stands.
