Middlesbrough add Luke Armstrong from non-league Blyth Spartans and dad Alun admits it is a 'massive blow'

Middlesbrough have re-signed striker Luke Armstrong, son of their former player Alun Armstrong, from non-league Blyth Spartans.

The 20-year-old had been with Boro on a youth contract, but after being released joined Cowdenbeath, then Spartans in the Vanarama National League North.

Armstrong senior is the manager at Croft Park and has seen his son score 23 goals this term, attracting the attention of the Premier League side, who will place him in next season's under-23 squad.
