Middlesbrough 2-0 Bournemouth: Gaston Ramirez wonder goal earns Boro a first home win

Middlesbrough had not won in 69 days and it was fitting that a 70-yard solo goal saw Aitor Karanka’s team end that miserable record here.

Their supporters had not seen their side win at the Riverside Stadium this season but Gaston Ramirez was determined to right that wrong when he ran from his own half in the 39th minute.

That got Boro going in this beating of Bournemouth and his contender for the season’s greatest goal came before Stewart Downing secured the three points with a blast from the past.

It was Downing’s first goal for Middlesbrough in the Premier League in 3,093 days – he last scored for them in this division in 2008 – and enough to secure only their second triumph this season.
