A man who was stabbed to death outside a migrant hostel in an attack that left another injured was a passer-by, it has emerged.
The attack is being investigated by counter-terrorism police and the probe is centered around a house in Hartlepool, Co Durham, shared by migrants who are thought to be asylum seekers.
It is thought the incident which led to two people being stabbed, one of them fatally, began at the house around 5.30am on Sunday. It then spilled out on to the street.
A kitchen knife was found on the pavement outside a sandwich shop approximately 500 yards from the house by police.
